The Coastal Taipan has been found from as far south as Grafton in NSW, right up to Cape York in the North, primarily living along the eastern seaboard, but also travelling out to The Kimberleys in the West.

 It is the largest of all the venomous snakes found in Australia, with specimens recorded between 3 and 4 metres in length. It also boasts the longest fangs at 12-13mm in length and ranks in as the 3rd most venomous snake on the Planet.
