The Collette's snake belongs to the Black Snake family and is by far one of the most beautifully coloured venomous snakes we have in Australia. It possesses a striking red to orange underbelly and sometimes a tartan like pattern across its back.

This particular species is found in far Western Queensland from Mt Isa down to the Charleville region. They are closely related to the Mulga snake and can reach lengths of up to 2 metres plus. Once again, as with any black snake, the venom properties destroy muscle cells and act as a blood thinner.
