The Mulga Snake was formerly known as the King Brown, however as it is not a brown snake, its name nor its reputation were never deserved. It belongs to the family of black snakes. The Mulga snake comes in as the second largest of the venomous snakes within Australia. Specimens of up to 3 metres have been recorded. It is certainly not Australia's most venomous snake, but it does deliver more venom than any other snake on this planet.

The fangs have a length of 6-8mm and the venom has properties condusive to thinning of the blood and breaking down muscle.
